Date: Saturday 15th Sept Frimley Town 2 V Beaulieu 2 Beaulieu went into this game with John Monk volunteering to play in goal after our keeper Darren Heeps failed to show, not the best preparation for a game against one of the leagues stronger teams. However Beaulieu took control of the game quite early but were unable to take the lead. Frimley were awarded a penalty, which they converted to take the lead, this was the only time they had gone into the Beaulieu area. Beaulieu kept looking for an equaliser but went into half time 1-0 down. Again Beaulieu had more of the play but were not creating any clear chances, the was now scrappy and the ref was struggling to keep charge of the game. Beaulieu had to make make three sustitutions due to injuries to players , all three had to go to Frimley Park Hospital, it was handy we were playing across the road they could all limp there !!! Beaulieu had lost a bit of shape until the subs settled in, then Tommy Short collected the ball on the right, outside the area beat his marker and calmly put the ball into the top left hand corner of the net. Within a minute Beaulieu captain Nick Bellwood put Beaulieu in front with a trademark goal from outside the area. Beaulieu now looked in control of the game, but Frimley had other ideas and kept pushing forward and scored a disputed offside equaliser that when the ref chose to overule the linesman. Beaulieu continued to push for the winner and thought they had it when Tommy Short sprinted through two defenders to run onto a good through ball and slotted the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper, but the linesman raised is flag for offside and this time the ref decided to go with the linesman and disallowed the goal. All in all a scrappy game from both sides that possibly the ref could have got hold off better with some strange decisions and bookings from both teams point of view. Beaulieu were dissappointed not to take all three points from this game, although not a classic performance they showed good character coming back from a goal down and appear to be holding their own in the premier division, good performance from all defence, wide players working well but not getting enough of the ball, front men leading line well but at times not getting support they need from middle of park, Darren Hedges again a shining light never knowing a lost cause, never gives up, John Monk a good performance in goal has played in all positions for team.
