Haslemere Town Youth 2 Beaulieu Belles Orange 3

A early start this morning for our trip to Haslemere, a quick chance to get back in action after Thursday night.  This was always going to be a tough encounter between two evenly matched teams who have contested both previous encounters with endeavour and skill.  Beaulieu started well with Olivia up front using her pace to good effect, Charley on the left was up and down the line working hard to create chances, Ella in the centre was passing the ball well and Georgia despite carrying an injury was busy all across the midfield.  Clare and Jessie in defence started well and had little to do.  Beaulieu took the lead with a goal from Georgia which was a super drag back, turn and shoot nearly all in one giving the Haslemere keeper no chance.  This the spurred Haslemere into action and some super passing and moving saw them start to dominate, it wasn't long before the equaliser came and then the game was end to end with both teams creating chances.  Georgia could have added to her goal but she had to give way to the pain and was taken off for a well deserved rest.  Haslemere then took the lead with a fine one two into the box well finished giving Jasmine no chance despite narrowing the angle.  Despite the rain and thunder both teams produced some super football but there was no further score to half time.  It was a rare occurrence for the girl's to be trailing and now it was time to see what the girl's were made of.  A bit of encouragement was all that was needed from the manager and coach to put things right and they were ready to go with a loud cheer of “Beaulieu” off they went.  The second half saw Beaulieu a bit more competitive and they began to impose themselves on Haslemere.  A change in personnel and position allowed the ever busy Jaqueline to receive more of the ball quicker and from one of these was a shot which hit the post and rebounded back into the box for Ella to smash home a deserved equaliser.  Again Haslemere came back strongly but the pairing of Georgia and Jessie at the back made it more difficult to get through, Clare now out on the right was busy with strong tackles that kept the ball in the Haslemere half she was also not afraid to shoot and support Jaqueline.  Ella was given a dual role and was outstanding with her tenacity and drive, her energy levels are second to none, she was picking up the ball in midfield and releasing Charley who eventually got a well deserved goal Beaulieu were now 3 – 2 ahead with 15 minutes to go.  Again Haslemere tried to get back in the game and forced a succession of corners which had the Beaulieu defence stretched at times.  Jaqueline was given a well deserved rest and Olivia came back on up front she was now battling for every ball and used her pace well to created chances for herself which were well saved by the changed Haslemere keeper who was busy and up to all that Beaulieu could throw at her.  As the time ticked by it was still end to end and a shot from the Haslemere striker through bodies was well saved by Jasmine but the ball dropped to a Haslemere player who hit a shot which struck the top of the bar and went over.  When the final whistle went both teams shook hands, and were both warmly applauded for a wonderful game full of excitement.  The Beaulieu Girl of the Match was a difficult decision but eventually went to Jaqueline for an all action performance and hard work for the team.
