07/10/2007 South Reading Vixens 3 - 1 Beaulieu Sharpays.

This was a cracking game with both teams playing some really entertaining football both set of players fully committed, a real joy to watch.

The first half both teams throw caution to the wind with all out attacking football. With only 3 minute gone the South Reading girls took the lead with good passing and movement gaining a corner and from the corner they scored at the near post. This was the best thing to happen to our girls because from this moment on the girls worked their socks off. Just before the end of the first half we had an attack and Sophie cross the ball for Aleeshia score unmarked at the back post. Great poaches goal. That's how stayed for the remaining few minutes of the first half.

The second half was much the same as the first with both teams counter attacking each other. Both the goals for South Reading in the second half were very similar coming long range shoots and Simba making 2 great saves only for the South Reading forward to score from the rebound. The third was a great goal due the South Reading winger going past 4 of our girls before thumping a great shoot making Simba to pull of a great save only for the rebound to be scored.

All the girls played well with notable performances by Aleeshia and Leanne, with Leanne being named Girl of the Match.
14th Oct: Cove 0 V 3 Beaulieu Sharpays

At last we've done it and broken our duck winning our first competitive match. This was always going to be a tense game with both sides looking for their first wins. For the majority of the game we did not play the type of football we have become accustomed too good passing and even better running with the ball total resulting in entertaining football. However, the result was all that mattered today and boy was it good.

The first half was a real scrappy affair with both teams unable to come to terms with the pitch, which did not have much grass but a lot of mud making it a tricky surface to control the ball. Saying this we did use our wingers Ann; Leanne and Megan really well with the girls at the back especially Simba in goal constantly looking to pass to them. This was nice to see because we have been work hard on moving the wide in training. The girls especially Ann we're getting into some good positions and hitting some good crosses into the Cove penalty area, however, as usual we had no one to finish at crucial moment. On this occasion there was many factors which may have contributed this, the pitch; confidence etc. This said we did hit the Cove cross bar and both posts on three different occasions. At the end of the first half it did look like we were going to have most of the possession but not be able score. Hence the score at the interval was 0 - 0.

At half time I decided to change our formation and push Amber into midfield and Aleeshia onto the right wing. This allowed Amber to push forward and breakdown the Cove attacks high up the pitch. This worked really well allowing the wingers have possession nearer to Cove area. Mid way through the second half we were awarded a penalty kick for hand ball after the Cove keeper throw the ball to one of her team mates, only for the player catch the ball. Danny stood up to take penalty just pushing the ball wide after sending the keeper the wrong way. Thankfully a few minutes later Amber passed the ball wide for Leanne to cross the ball into the feet of Danny to slot the ball into the net from close range to make it 1 nil, with great relief from the side lines. The goal seemed to give the girls a boost and in a ten minute spell two more goals were scored by Ann and Leanne. Ann's goal came from sheer determination. She got the ball inside the Cove area with plenty of defenders around her but this was not going to stop her from poking the ball into the net. Leanne's goal came from a good move down the left wing and a good cross from Megan finding Leanne unmarked in the middle of the Cove area, with a swivel of the hips Leanne sent the goal keeper the wrong way and slotted the ball into the far corner. A couple of minutes later the referee blow the final whistle which signalled the start of great celebrations. It was a joy to watch the girls coming off the pitch with smiles from ear to ear and an even better seeing the parents finally seeing our girls win.

Everyone played well, the girls at the back coming on and off the pitch at regular intervals kept their heads well playing nice balls out of defence and winning all their tackles. Simba came off her line well to prevent any shots at goal, also playing the ball out well. The midfielders battled hard winning all their tackles and creating good moves especially in the second half and both Danny and Stacey working hard up front making it tough for the Cove girls to play out of defence and keeping them under pressure. One notable performance came from Madie who didn't get much time on the pitch; however, her sheer determination on the pitch won her the Girl of the Match award.

I am so proud of the girls and this is reward for all the hard work and effort they put in during training and games. Girls you have raised the bar now let's go for it and keep winning.

21/10/2007 Farnborough Hot Shots 5 - 0 Beaulieu Sharpays

This was marked to be one of the toughest games of the season, with Farnborough sitting on top of the league we expected a real battle and that is what we got. The score line reflected the willingness of the Farnborough girls to work that little bit harder then us.

We started the game very bright with Jaye in defence playing really well. For the first 20 minutes it looked like there was nothing between the two teams and maybe one or two goals would have settled the contest. On the 20 minute mark we were given a penalty for hand ball on the line. I hold my hands up for this mistake; I decided to give the penalty to one of our defenders seeing as we missed one last week. I thought she was going to blast the ball low and hard into the net, but the ball went high high over the cross bar. Within 20 seconds of the kick Farnborough were one up with a well take shoot just inside our penalty area. From this moment onwards it was all Farnborough. They had their tails up and our confidence seem to have drained away from the goal. They scored another goal before the half time whistle coming from a long range shoot Simba tipping the ball onto the crossbar only for it to bounce back into the goal.

The second half the Farnborough girls were well on top and kept us in our own half for most of the second period. They scored three more goals from scrappy play and poor marking from us.

They are a very good team and one pleasing aspect from the game was that the girls never gave up especially Simba in goal. It was also nice to get a compliment from the Farnborough manager who said we did not deserve to lose by such a margin and the girls were a credit to Beaulieu Football Club. We are still to nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girl of the match was Simba for pulling off some outstanding saves.

28th Oct: Beaulieu Sharpays 2 - 0 Cove Youth

Another win for our girls and a well deserved win as well. All the girls played well through out the game with the score line not really projecting a true reflection of the over all play.

We started off very bright winning the ball off the Cove girls straight from the kick off and Sophie forcing the Cove keeper into a good save within the first 20 seconds. The Cove girls then settled themselves and got back into the game. During the first half we had the lion share of procession; however, as usual we were unable to convert our chances. It was also notable we weren't using the space to our advantage and at times we had 2 girls going for the same ball. Three subs were introduced half way through the first and from that moment onwards we played some cracking football. Lovely passing, some great runs especially from Leanne which gave us chance after chance but we couldn't capitalise on the pressure we were creating especially from the amount of corners we were getting. Simba did have to make one great save diving at the feet of 4 on coming players (she as brave as a lioness). The score remained 0 - 0 at the interval.

At half time I pointed out to the girls that we needed to get back to our passing game and to stay calm in front of goal and the goals will come.

We couldn't have asked for a better start to the second half. It took 3 passes for Danielle to pop up in the Cove area with goal in front of. As I told the girls to stay calm in front of goal she did this and slotted a well taken shot into the Cove goal net. From this moment onwards the Cove girls only ventured into our half on the rare occasion. Our defence was very solid; Madie, Amber and Bling all winning every tackle and playing the ball out very intelligently especially in the second half. Our midfield and stickers worked their socks off not really getting the rewards for all their efforts. With ten minutes to go Leanne picked the ball up on the half way line and went pass two Cove girls ran into the Cove area and smashed the ball towards the Cove goal. The Cove got a hand to the ball but was unable to keep the ball out of the net. Her celebration after will stay in the memory for a long time; running down the touch line high fiving all the parents on the way (fantastic). We had a couple more chances after that, Sophie working hard in and round the Cove area and very unlucky on a couple of occasions.

As mentioned before all the girls played really well and girl of the match could have gone to any of the girls, but I gave it to Bling because this was her best performance for a very long time, winning all her battles and playing the ball well and clearing the ball to stop any advances from the Cove attacks.

Girl of the Match - Bethany (Bling).

4/11 Farnham Vixens 1 - 2 Beaulieu Sharpays

Today's game was a battle from start to finish with both teams contesting for everything.

During the first half we were very dominant and controlled the game quite well. We started with Amber in midfield again which I feel helps the team because she's able to stop any advances from the opposition higher up the field. This seemed to be the perfect tactic because we had the ideal start. Our first goal came within the first ten minutes, coming from quick inter linking play which found Stacey unmarked in the Farnham area. She kept relaxed controlling the ball on the turn and slotted it in the far corner (very good finish). Our second came from a very similar situation, this time it was Amber making a darting run into the Farnham area collecting the ball just inside their Area and thumping the ball just wide of the goalkeeper. We made numerous more chance hitting the side netting on at least three different occasions and Sophie brushed the post with a fierce shoot from just outside the Farnham area. Farnham had their chances in the first half as well but were kept at bay by some great defending especially by Jaye and a couple of good saves from Simba.

At half time I made change to our tactics and got Aleeshia to mark one of the Farnham midfielders which seemed to put us on the back foot for a while. Farnham capitalized on this and got a goal back just after the break. We had a mixed up in the defence and we couldn't seem to clear the ball from our area and one of the Farnham girls found herself with the ball in front of our goal and put it away. This was a very scrappy goal to concede. It was a good wake up for the girls and from then on we got back to controlling the game and we used our wingers very well especially Ann on the right hand side. She had countless chances to score with and Sophie and Leanne the score line could have reflected the amount of possession we had. This was a good win mainly because we had to battle hard to get it. Very well done to all the girls and Girl of the Match could have gone to a number of them. I gave it to Jaye because she was solid at the back and worked very hard covering other players.

Girl of the match : Jaye

Goal scorers : Stacey 1; Amber 1

11/11 Camberley Town 0 - 0 Beaulieu Sharpays

Today's game was the most exciting game the team has ever played. Everyone watching went away in amazement that there had not been any goals scored. All the girls from both teams have to be praised for their commitment and determination in this brilliant match, which was not helped by the weather conditions.

The first and second halves were so similar because it was dominated by the midfielders. This said both defences were tested on a number of occasions. Two notable performances for us came from Simba who pulled off some fantastic saves and Amber who took control of every situation, both every strong in their positions.

This game provided a few encouraging points [1] our corners are starting to get better and [2] we forced some great crosses from three different players. There was also a couple of points we need to work on in training most notably reacting to situations early and being stronger in the tackle. This said it was a good performance and a game which we could have won if we had been more clinical in front of goal. On the other hand Camberley had their chances especially with the final attack of the game, the ball got past our defence with a Camberley girls darting towards our goal Simba came dashing out and closed the space down forced the attacker to place her shot just wide of our goal. Excellent reactions and bravery from Simba.

I'd also like to thank all from Camberley especially the girls for a great game and Richard the manager who made us all very welcome.

We had two Girls who were Girl of the Match today; they were:

Simba in goal for some great saves and Amber in defence for a great performance.

18/11 Beaulieu Sharpays 2 - 2 Liss Athletic Chicks

I can honestly say today we did not get the result we deserved. The girls were outstanding especially in the second half. Only for two silly mistakes we should have won this game by a cricket score and that is not taking anything away from our opponents. Who battle well especially their keeper who pulled off some unbelievable saves that any pro keeper would have been proud of? They had a couple of plucky players that when we gave them the opportunity the dually obliged really well.

The first half was quite a scrappy affair with both teams unable to take full control of the game. This said we were camped in their half for most of the first period, but could not put our chances away. The girls from Liss scored two very well taken goals from brake a ways out of defence, both against the run of play. The disappointing aspect of these goals was that they both came from us attacking inside the Liss box. Take nothing away they took both goals really well. I most heap praise on their keeper who I thought was not going to be beaten after she pulled off a string of great saves. The score at half time remained two nil, which I felt we did not deserve to come into the break behind, but we needed to be stronger and quicker.

After a few words from myself and Dan at half time the second half kicked off with our girls really determined to kick on and get something out of this game. Our passing was quicker and the ball was being moved into better areas and the tempo was fast just how we like it. The most pleasing thing about the second half was that we never took our foot off the peddle. And anytime the Liss girls got as far as the half way line our defenders especially Bling won their tackles and played some great passes to keep the pressure on the Liss Defence. In the back of my mind I thought the pressure we were applying would come to nothing because the way the Liss goal keeper was playing, but with 15 minutes gone in the second half Stacey received the ball on the left hand corner of the Liss Goal area and with a curled shot threaded through all the players in the box and the keepers out stretched hand the ball hit the back of the net. Probably the best goal the team have scored especially with the build up play. Our second came about five minutes later from Sophie who was a consent threat through out the second half. She got the ball and beat two defenders before placing the goal just wide of the keeper. We were pushing really hard for the winner so I decided to change our formation to allow for two forwards. This nearly paid off with a couple of minutes remaining Danny hit the post and the ball went behind the keeper and looked like it was heading into the net but the keeper grabbed the ball preventing it from crossing the line.

I can honestly say the second half was probably the best we have played as a team and this was without two very strong players Leanne and Megan. Hopefully we can now start games with the belief and passion we did in the second half of today's game. I want to talk about things that we are doing well and not be GRUMPY OLD LEE at half times. Girls you are better than you think, in my eyes you a match for any team now.

Goals scorers:

  • Stacey 1
  • Sophie 1

Girl of the match went to the whole team for an outstanding performance which left me speechless after the game; however I gave the trophy to Stacey for the way she performed and that great goal. Yes I did say speechless for those that know my after game talks.

02/12 Mytchett 4 - 1 Beaulieu Sharpays

Today's game was a credit to girl's football, with both teams not being put off by the weather conditions. It was a fast flowing game with lots of lovely football being played by both sets of girls. It was just a shame the score line didn't reflect the game itself. This said the Mytchett girls did take their chances when they were given them.

The first half was a stalemate until mid way through when the Mytchett girls made good use of some lucky breaks scoring three goals in quick succession. We responded with a fairly fortunate goal ourselves via a shot from Ann which just creped under the keeper who nearly caught it before it went over the line. Mytchett then summed up our luck when one of their players crossed the ball just for it to go over the goal line and into the net. This is how it remained for the rest of the first half.

There were no goals scored in the second half but the football was a joy to watch. It was great to see two teams playing football how it should be played and not just hoofing the ball. The second half was end to end with some great passing and some great counter attacking football with the wingers working their socks off.

All I can say is THANK YOU girls and that I am so proud of you for [1] the way you played [2] never giving up and fighting to the bitter end [3] your work rate (not one stopped run; tackling; movement off the ball and [4] the encouragement you gave each other. I'm going to use a Jose term and say THE BEST TEAM LOST TODAY. Hay ho if you don't score more than the other team you don't win. Once we do start scoring on a regular basis we will be a feared team I can promise you.

Girl of the match: went to the whole team.

Rushmoor Rubies 1 – 0 Beaulieu Sharpays

This was a cracking encounter to start the New Year both teams giving everything throughout the match. We just edged the possession count and attempts on goal but were unlucky with the result.

The first half was a stalemate with both teams unable to break the deadlock. We changed our formation which proved a fine move allowing more freedom for most of the team. We applied pressure on the Rubies defence which led to a concession of corners which we were unable to capitalise on. The Rubies had one chance in the first half with one of their midfielders shooting just wide. Sophie also had a cracking chance taking full advantage of a slack clearance from the Rubies defence. She brought the ball down and hit a lobe over the Rubies keeper just for the ball to hit the cross bar. For the last 10 minutes of the first half the Rubies put 2 up front which put a slight bit of pressure on our players at the back. The score remained 0 – 0 at the half time whistle.

The second half was much the same as the first with us apply the lion share of the pressure but was unable again to apply the finishing touch to our pressure. We were unfortunate to go a goal down mid way throw the second half. The Rubies had a break away on our right hand side and their winger managed to squeeze the ball into the net from just inside our penalty area. We throw everything at the Rubies but were unable the get the ball into the net and the score finished at 1 nil to the Rubies.

Everyone played well today with some notable performances from Aleesha; Sophie; Jaye and Bling. Two girls stood out playing really well Ambz who played her new role outstandingly well and Madie who started the New Year in fine form. Cracking start to the New Year but girls we need to start getting tougher in front of goal and we will get back to winning ways.

Girl of the match went to Madie.

20th Jan 08 Beaulieu Sharpays 3 – 2 Farnham Vixens

Great result today which could have been a little more convincing, this said the Farnham girls showed great character to get themselves back in the game and could of nicked a draw.

We started the first half very bright and showed that we were going to contest for every ball. We started with the same formation as the previous game which allowed the girls in the back line freedom to venture forward which they did to great effect. This ensured our forward players didn't have to do too much tracking back enabling us to have the lion share of possession through out the first half. During the first half Simba was only called upon a handful of occasions and she was her usual brilliant self. The pressure we were applying paid off mid way through the first half. The ball broke to Danny just inside the Farnham penalty area and she hit a cracking shoot with her left foot, fantastic goal. Within 5 minutes we were 2 up with a near exact goal from Danny and yes she scored it with her left foot again. At this point we were fully in control of the game and we were forcing corner after corner but with no reward. Leanne and Danny were really playing well together and Aleeshia was working her socks off in her role. The girls were really playing well as a team even when I made the changes, which change the complex of the game we Megan showing some great skills and Ann making some great runs we forced the Farnham girls back even more. The score remained 2 – 0 at the interval.

The second half started in the same manor as the first half with us pressing every ball. However the Farnham girls played 2 girls wide up front which started to stretch our back line. This formation really worked well for the Farnham team and they started to force us back. To great relief mid way through he second half Ann had a brake away down her wing got past 2 Farnham girls and hit an amazing shoot low and hard from about 20 yards (could be contender for goal of the season). We again started to play some passing football and forced more corners and some great saves from the Farnham keeper. This said I must be honest and say Farnham at this point were on top and scored 2 quick really well taken goals with about 10 minutes to go making it a real cliff hanger at the end. Credit has to be given to their girls for not giving up. To great relief the final whistle was blown with the score line 3 – 2in our favour, another well deserved win well done girls.

Girl of the Match

This could have gone to all the girls today for their work rate; passing and great team play.

Girl of the Match went to Megan for showing us skills that the great Zola would have been proud of. (photo's)

27-01-2008 Liss Athletic Chicks 0 – 0 Beaulieu Sharpays

This was always going to be a tough match with both teams having won their previous matches and with the added incentive after our last encounter with the Chicks were we came from 2 behind at half time to force a well earned draw.

Both teams started the game well and through out the game it became a mid field battle. Both sets of defences worked very hard to squash the on coming attacks. During the first half it was a stale make with both teams having the same amount of possession and there was no real attempts on each goal, so the score was 0 – 0 at half time.

With the slight slope in our favour in the second half I got the girls in the back line to do something I don't normal tell them to and play the ball long down the flanks. This worked well getting the ball in the Liss half for most of the second half. However, the Liss defence worked really hard keeping us at bay and when we did create chances the Liss goal keeper was on top form. She really did play a blinder, 3 shoots from Sophie would have tested any keeper and more than likely found the back of the net but she not only saved them but held onto them BRILLIANT. In the second half Liss only hard 1 clear cut chance which had Simba at full stretch keeping the ball out with feet, absolute brilliant save. With the two keepers on top form and the entire out field players playing really well the scored remained 0 – 0 at full time. Well done to both sets of girls for giving us a really entertaining game.

Girl of the match could have gone to any of the girls today but I gave it to Sophie for her constant work rate and being a threat all game, well done.(photos)

3rd Feb Aldershot Boys & Girls Angels 0 – 3 Beaulieu Sharpays

What a game today, we have played the Angels on five different occasions in the past and only managed to get 1 point out of them. In the previous games we have never had the self belief to get the ball into the back of the net and they have punished us with odd attack in every game. Today was a completely different affair with us being the most dominant side and taking 3 of our chances. If we had been a bit sharper in front of goal we could have had a few more.

During the first half we were playing against a strong wind which I thought may play a factor against us, but we dominate the procession and created chance after chance with Sophie going close on a number of occasions. Both Leanne and Danny also had a few chances to open the scoring. It was a joy to see both Ann and Leanne raining the crosses into the Angels area. When we made changes the girls who came on kept the shape of the side complete. Megan and Madie got themselves into the game really quickly, with some great defending by Madie and some great runs from Megan and Danny. With all our procession and attacks we were unable to score in the first half and score remained 0 – 0 at the break.

We started the second half with a tactic we have used successfully in the past and put Amber in the midfield. This worked again and midway through the second half Ann collected the ball just in side the Angels half and ran past two players before unleashing a fierce shot from just outside the Angels penalty area which went under their keeper's body to make it 1 nil. We then put Amber back in defence allowing us to convert back to using our wingers to great effect with Aleeshia as usual working her socks off winning every ball and laying it off for the attacking players to create more chances. In between us scoring the first and second goals the Angels did give us a scare with good pass through the middle of the pitch into the Angels attackers' path. Simba showed great reactions and came flying out dive at the feet of the attacker and forcing the ball away. A few moments later Sophie received the ball just inside the Angels penalty area looked up and saw Danny in the middle of the box passed her the ball and Danny slotted the ball into the net again with her left foot. A short time later in near identical situation the ball fell to Leanne in the Middle of the penalty area and she coolly smashed the ball into the net to make it 3 nil. Through out the game we played brilliantly, however, I felt in the second half we had a real bite about us, we competed for everything, chanced everything down and played some great passing football it was a joy to watch. The final score was 3 nil to us great result.

I would like to thank the Angels for their hospitality making us feel really welcome plus their sportsmanship was great on and off the field with both sets of girls showing great respect for each other and both sets of supporters supporting their teams in the right manor.

Player of the match went to the whole team. (pictures)

10th Feb Cove Chicks 1 – 5 Beaulieu Sharpays

Well a game of two half's today that's not taking away the amount of possession we had in the first half it was just the way we used the ball which was poor. We were not playing our normal fast flowing passing football and resorted to huffing from the back and trying to score from anywhere.

During the first half we had the majority of possession but we could not capitalize on the amount of play we had. This was mainly due to the girls trying to score from anywhere and not playing our normal passing game. With only ten minutes gone in the first half Cove had a break away with two of their girls attacking our defence. The ball broke to one of their girls in front of our goal with Simba stranded she calmly slotted the ball into our net to make it 1 nil to Cove. We were not working as a team which showed in front of goal where done of our girls tested the Cove keeper. Fair play to the Cove girls they kept us to a limited amount of chances and at the break it was 1 nil to them.

At half time Dan and I pointed out to the girls where we going wrong and got them start playing as a team rather than individuals.

The second half couldn't have started better for us the girls took on board what we had told them and within five minutes of the restart Sophie smashed the ball low and hard at the Cove keeper. She was unable to hold onto it and the ball slipped through her hands and just crept over the line. Bit of a fortuities goal but we've had our share of bad luck in the past. Once we had scored that first goal the flood gates opened and within the first ten minutes we were 4 – 1 up. Another well worked team play found Sophie unmarked in the Cove area and she scored from close range. The next goal came from Leanne who received the ball from a cross by Ann and she placed the ball coolly into Cove net with her left foot. The forth was made by Ann who battled to win the ball on the right wing then crossed the ball into the path of Sophie who smashed the ball towards the Cove goal on the way it took a deflection sending their keeper the wrong way. Our fifth goal came from Aleeshia who found herself on the right hand side of the Cove goal and ball fell to her feet she then calmly slotted the ball into the Cove net from close range. This is how it remained but we were still creating a lot of chances through our great team play. Our second half performance was fantastic and all the girls played their socks off with notable performances from Stacey and Aleeshia.

Girl of the match could have gone to any of the girls today. We gave it to Aleeshia because she never stopped running and won all her tackles plus she completed every pass. (pictures)

17th Feb Beaulieu Sharpays 9 – 0 Aldershot Angels

What a fantastic result today. At times we played some breathtaking football moving the ball around the pitch with slick passing and great runs. It was a joy to watch from the sidelines.

We could not have got off to a better start from the Aldershot kick off we nicked the ball and within 2 minutes Ann had slotted the ball into the back of the Angels net. This was great because the last thing we told the girls was to start as we finished last week. To be fair Aldershot worked hard in the first half keeping themselves in the game and for the majority of the half were on top but could not break down our stern defence. When they did via a fantastic shot from an Angels winger Simba pulled off one of trade mark brilliant saves tipping the ball over the cross bar. The last 10 minutes of the half our girls started to impose themselves on the Angels. Sophie hit a stunning long range effort forcing the Angels keeper into a similar save to the one Simba pulled off earlier in the half. With only a few minutes remaining in the half Danny received the ball via a brilliant cross from Leanne and slotted the ball into the Angels net to make it 2 – 0 at the break.

The second half got off in similar fashion to the first, this time Ann scored within the first few seconds via a great passing build up, brilliant team goal. From that moment on our girls increased the pressure and forced chance after chance. This was mainly to do with our girls at the back who were so solid it was unbelievable Madie; Bling and Ambz were outstanding and stopped any advances the Angels tried to make plus starting most of our moves forward. Leanne also had a brilliant game and from her crosses she created at least 7 of our goals. Our further goals came in quick succession from Ann; Sophie; Danny; Aleeshia and an unfortunate own goal via a training ground corner.

I most give the Angels a lot of credit for battling to the end, not one of them gave up and are a credit to Aldershot Boys & Girls. They made us work to the final whistle for everything.

Girl of the Match was hard today with so many of the girls playing so well, with Ann scoring 3 goals she would have normally got GOM but I gave it to Madie for an outstanding performance.

24th Feb 2008 Farnham Vixens 3 – 5 Beaulieu Sharpays

Today's game was always going to be a tough encounter. We have played the Vixens twice earlier in the season and only just managed to hang onto the odd goal victory. What made it even spicier was that both us and the Vixens have a close points tally and playing for positions at the end of the season. As usual it was a game of two half's and we made it hard for ourselves to start off with.

The first half Farnham had the majority of the possession which was mainly down to their desire to win the ball in all the areas around the pitch and at times we were second best in every position. We did, however, take the lead ten minutes into the game with a well worked team goal with Sophie placing an inch perfect pass for Leanne to finish off superbly. We held this lead for about twenty second when the Vixens stormed up the pitch and grabbed a well taken equaliser. A minute later we received a corner and Sophie hit a great cross into the Vixens box and Leanne reacted quickest slotting the ball firmly into the Farnham net to make it 2 – 1 to us. Then we had a mad ten minute spell were we couldn't get the ball off the Vixens and they scored two goals in quick succession to make it 3 – 2 in their favour at the break. They were well deserved of their lead at this point.

Half time team talk is now taking the same line every week with myself and Dan having to point out to the girls what to do and explaining were we are going wrong, maybe I'll have to change the team talk before the game??????????????????

We brought Ann on and this turned out to be a master stroke. From the restart she completely changed the complexity of the game. She ran at the opposition forcing them onto the back foot all the time. We also got Aleeshia to do one of her many tactical jobs which she did superbly as usual. We started to pin the Vixens back into their own half and the chances started to come. It wasn't long before Leanne had smashed the ball into the Vixens net to grab the equalizer coming from some great passing and wing play. Within minutes we had regained the lead with another great team goal and again it was Leanne finishing off the move from close range (4 goals) doubling her tally for the season fantastic well done Lea. We were not finished there our last goal was made by Ann. She lost the ball just inside the Vixens half and then won it back through shear determination. She then got past two Farnham girls before crossing the ball inch perfect into feet of an unmarked Danny, who coolly sent the Vixens keeper the wrong way before slotting the ball into the far corner. Brilliant way to finish off the scoring for the day.

After a miss match performance in the first half the team pulled together for a well earned victory. I would like to say a big thanks to the Farnham team and their supporters for a show of great sportsmanship. It's nice to play good teams and everyone enjoy themselves thanks for that Farnham and I wish you good luck for the rest of the season.

Girl of the Match = went to Leanne for her all round performance and those 4 lovely goals and Ann for her outstanding performance (Dan said she was like a young Ryan Giggs at his best). (pictures)

2nd March Beaulieu Sharpays 0 – 1 Liss Athletic

Well what can I say but the best team lost today. I have not said that for a very long time but this was one of those days. As I have said before if you don't score you don't win. I have to say well done to the Liss girls for their stout defending and their goal keeper was outstanding today well done to them.

The first half was end to end but we just shaded the possession count. We had a couple of chances one notable one was from Sophie who smashed the ball from the right hand side to crashed off the outside of the post.

During the second half we were camped inside the Liss half and when the Liss girls got out of their half the defenders Amber; Bling and Madie stood firm and nothing got past them. WE had chance after chance but the Liss keeper was on top form and kept us at bay. Near the end of the game we were pushing and pushing and caught on the counter attack two of the Liss girls got past Amber and Bling with Simba to beat. She came flying out but was so unlucky for the ball to go under body. This is how it ended so our slim change of winning the league has now gone.

Well done to Liss they played a great game which made it entertaining for the supporters.

Girls I want to thank you all for all your work this season, just look back to last season and remember where we have come from YOU ALL HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT. One more game to go lets give it all we've got.

Girl of the Match went to Amber today. She was outstanding.

4th May Rushmoor Saints Rubies 1 – 1 Beaulieu Sharpays

What can I say we had lost Simba (goalkeeper) due to breaking her thumb during training the day before plus we had already secured 2 nd place in the league and Rushmoor had finished champions, so this was a clash of the best two teams in the league. My aim for our final game was for Scoop (Megan) to score her first goal so I pushed her up front and the rest of the team were instructed to get the ball to her and to enjoy themselves.

This turned out to one of the most enjoyable games I have watched for a long time which was surprising because we had not played for six weeks. It was as if the girls had never stopped playing. Both set of players highlighted why girls football is now the fastest growing sport in the world it was a joy to watch. Either team could have nicked all the points that is how end to end this game was.

For the first half I decided to try one of my tactical changes and played three at the back; two tight midfielders and Scoop up front. I did this to keep the game tight during first and then go for it in the second half. We did, however, take the lead about ten minutes into the game admittedly against the run of play with a well struck goal from Leanne just inside the Rushmoor gaol area. From then on the game became an end to end encounter with both teams having chances and if it wasn't for some good keeping from both keepers we could have had a repeat of our first encounter with Rushmoor which ended in a 4 all draw. At the break we were good for our lead with the girls at the back looking very solid.

he second was just as good as the first with both teams going for it. We decided to keep the same formation for the start of the first half because the girls in the middle of the park were enjoying the freedom this formation allowed them. It wasn't long into the second half when Rushmoor got their equaliser. It was one of the best pieces of skill I have seen for a long time. The Rushmoor striker got the ball on the edge of our box with her back to goal swivelled one way went the other and smashed the ball towards our goal. Sophie got her hands to the ball pushing it onto the crossbar. But it came straight down onto her head and she was unable to prevent it from crossing the line. This is how it finished a very enjoyable end to league campaign

Better was to come in the afternoon when we took two teams to the Mytchett tournament. We finished the afternoon with both teams in the plate final so we won and finished runners up in the plate competition. I think this was a brilliant achievement because the girls had played their socks of in the morning and most of them were running on empty by the third game. The final was the funniest game I have seen for a while most of the players decided to plaster their faces with face paint and we had at least four or five clowns running round the football pitch (that is the Sharpays for you). Well done girls I'm so proud of every one of you.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to Ella A; Twig (Hayley B) and especially Jasmine for stepping in last minute
