The Jets & Rockets continue regular training on Friday evenings between 6pm and 7pm. We have now started winter training which takes place on the 'astro' turf at Frogmore. Within the under 8's we train as a squad only splitting into the two teams for matches. Currently we have 18 players registered which have been split into, what we hope will be, two equally competitive teams. Once again this year we have both teams playing in the Surrey Primary League. The teams have now completed their seeding games and the Jets having won 3 and lost 1 have been placed in division 2. We still have places available for new players within both teams and will, if numbers permit, look to start another team at this age group. Anybody looking to join as players or to help with coaching should either contact Martin (see contacts page) or come and see us at training. |

Latest Match Reports League Game – 2nd December 2007 Mayford Rovers v Beaulieu Jets Result 1-2 Half Time 0-0 Wet and miserable was the only way to describe the weather for today's game but despite the considerable amount of rain the pitch was still playable for the Jets game at Mayford Rovers. The Jets didn't let the rain bother them and despite being down to the a bare 7 players took to the field full of confidence and enthusiasm. For the first half the Jets had a slight advantage of playing with the wind and they set off at a high pace. A number of good attacks followed with good passing between the Jets players although none of these really troubled the Rovers goal. The Jets maintained this pressure throughout the first half and spent long spells in the opposition half. Good chances were made by Matt, Jack and Tommy but the Rovers defence and goalkeeper managed to keep the ball from going in. The Rovers towards the end of the first half managed a few attacks into the Jets half but the team defended well and cleared the threat without any real pressure on their goal. From the start of the second half the Jets were back on the attack with good moves being worked down the left wing. This continued pressure finally paid off when having worked the ball down the left wing Jack crossed the ball and Daniel tucked the ball away. This was shortly followed by a second which would of, had it been available, been the subject of multiple TV replays. Again the ball was played down the left wing and crossed by Jack, Daniel headed the ball back away from the Rovers goal and Matt struck the ball firmly into the back of the net. Now 2 goals up the Jets relaxed and came under a much increased level of pressure. Although they defended well with some good saves from Chad in the Jets goal the Rovers managed to pull one goal back with only seconds remaining. his was the last real action of the match and the points were safe for the Jets. Man of the Match this week was awarded to Chad who, in goal, had remained focussed on the game and made some good saves when required. |
